More on The Glove Compartment:

Stainton has created 10 unique hand welded metal plates to hang from each Glove Compartment. These plates bear the words IMPACT or DRIVER in Stainton’s hand writing.

Mr Lez has collaged and hand sewn each glove in different fabrics and materials. He has also added what he is calling a memento pouch. A small square which has been cut from clear lez fabric and is designed to house pictures of a beloved someone, a phone number, a tenner, your bank card or a lock of hair. It’s the Victorian locket for the metro dyke who wants to keep their sweetheart crotchside.

Stainton and Lez have deconstructed that much mythologised slice of dyke life, the belt loop and carabiner combination to allow the wearer to still use their carabiner on days when they might not be wearing trousers with belt loops, or maybe they’re wearing pocketless trousers, a skirt, or nada at all and still want to swing their big metal thing.

There’s a hot slit running through the inside of each welding glove, tucked under the sawn-off denim pocket. The slit has been made especially to fit a phone but keep whatever you want in there, you’re the driver.
